Repainting Shoes

My dress shop arrived yesterday! I've begun decorating it, and I'll make a post when I've finished with 'before' and 'after' images :)
One of the many accessories it came with are these shoes:

They look pretty awful, not something you'd want to see in a boutique! So I decided to repaint them because they will only be on display, so it doesn't matter if the paint makes them go hard.
I had a bit of a 'brain-wave' and I decided to paint them with nail varnish. I didn't have anything to lose because they were so horrible!

The result was a smooth, glossy finish. They now look like red patent leather shoes! No brush stroke marks and it dried so quickly.

I used Barry M regular nail polish (£2.99) in 262 Bright Red.

They look much better now in my opinion! I was going to paint the buckles gold but my mum said they looked better just red.

Also, Happy Easter, hope the Easter Bunny bought you all lots of chocolate :)

Decisions about what to buy!

As most of you probably know, it was my birthday last week :) Although I didn't get any Sylvanian Families, I got some money from various kind family and friends.
I have decided to spend this on some new Sylvanian Families. However, as usual, I cannot decide what to buy!

Dress Shop

I would really like the dress shop, I have so many ideas for decoration for this shop, and I could fill it with my my own handmade dresses and accessories!

The side door on the left annoys me! I would probably cover it up with wallpaper ;)

Flower Shop

I would also like to make a little flower shop out of one of these buildings. If anyone has a spare that they're willing to sell me then please contact me! :) (Thanks to Beverly of Carrot Creek for the image)

I will buy the village flower stall and put it in the building along with some vintage flower accessories I have.

The John Lewis Department Store is also on my 'want-list' as it is so detailed. However at £80 it is very, very expensive. Although I have enough money for it I don't really have enough room for it and also I'd quite like it to ask for it for Christmas (long way off but you have to plan haha) :)

I think I will probably buy the dress shop and save the rest of the money until I see something come up that I'd really like :)

Sorry this isn't really a proper post, but I am sky-high in revision and homework. I actually wrote this post during two of my 15 minute breaks I get every hour and a half from revision. My last exam is Wednesday and I finish school for the holiday on Thursday so I promise I'll have some proper updates during the holiday!

**UPDATE** I talked to my mum and I ordered the dress shop because she loves it too! We are going to decorate/renovate it in the Easter holidays (next 2 weeks) so I'll be sure to keep you guys updated :D

A Good Old Fashioned Birthday Party

Some of you may know that it's my birthday tomorrow! Yay :D
So it's only natural that I wrote a story to celebrate (my own?!) Birthday.
Before I begin, it was my Birthday Party yesterday, and my mum made me the cutest cake:

Fourteen candles!

It's so cute! The whole of the bed is edible, and it has the little Fielding Mouse Family tucked in! It took her forever, but I think it was really worth it - I just don't want to cut it!
Anyway, on with the story:

It was Gwen Simpkin's Birthday, and she was very excited for her party. Lots of birthday cards had already come in the post that morning.

The guests soon began to arrive for her party. Jasmine Bouquet carried her invitation and a present, and Maria Buckley soon followed.

The Simpkin's next door neighbour Mrs Macavity played merry tunes on the piano and they all sang along cheerily. Next they played some lovely party games like pass - the - parcel!

Mrs Simpkins had just finished laying the table, and adjusting all the pretty decorations.

They all sat down to a delicious party tea of sandwiches, cake and trifle.

When they had finished, Mrs Simpkins cleared the table and brought over a huge, delicious birthday cake!

Just as they were singing the last chorus of 'Happy Birthday', the doorbell rang and the children's mummies had come to pick them up!

'Don't forget your party bags!' Beamed little Gwen Simpkins.
'Thank you so much for everything,' The two girls said.
'No, thank you for coming, and thank you for the presents!' Gwen laughed.

Gwen had such a wonderful day! Even though she'd had to invite her brother, she was thrilled.

'I was so lucky to get all these presents!' Smiled Gwen, happily to herself.

Hehe, I hope you like it! I'm so excited for my birthday tomorrow!! (I sound like a little kid ;) )

Happy Mother's Day!

This story is dedicated to my awesome Mum because she does so much for me and I love her tons! <3
(I know it's actually Mother's Day tomorrow but I wanted to post it today) ;)

It was crisp and bright Sunday morning in March; everyone in Highfields Farm was fast asleep.
Ring! Ring! Isabella Hunter-Smyths' alarm clock rang. Isabella groaned and silenced the alarm. Just as she was about to drift off to sleep again, Isabella jumped up in her bed remembering it was Mother's Day!

She leapt out of her bed, made her bed and crept across her attic bedroom to wake up her brother.
'Hector! Hector wake up!' Isabella prodded him gently.

'Wha-' Hector began.
'It's Mother's Day, remember, Hector!' Isabella exclaimed. After some gentle persuasion from his sister, Hector got out of his bed, got dressed and descended the ladder quietly. They passed their parent's bedroom almost silently, and crept down the stairs to the kitchen.

'Right then, Mother won't her breakfast until 8, which gives us plenty of time to do her chores before we make breakfast,' Explained Isabella. 'Hector, please could you lay and light the fire, sweep the living room and plump the cushions. I'll scrub the kitchen and do the washing and ironing,'
'Good plan, Izzy, lets get to work!' Hector agreed, happily, as he yawned.
Isabella did the washing.

And the ironing.

Hector lit the fire.

And swept the living room.

'Finished?' Asked Isabella as Hector walked into the kitchen.
'All done, let's start breakfast!' Hector suggested, happily.

They made breakfast nice and quickly, and laid it neatly on a tray.
'Oh no, we haven't got her a present!' Cried Hector!
'Lucky I remembered, then!' Laughed Isabella.
Hector carried the tray up, and Isabella took the present and card. Isabella quickly woke up their baby sister Georgina.

'Happy Mother's Day, Mother!' They chorused.
'Oh this is such a wonderful surprise, my darlings!' Camilla Hunter-Smyth beamed, as she and Charles sat up in bed. Hector set down the tray, and Isabella gave her the gift. She then lifted Georgina onto the bed.

'Open it! Open it!' The children said.
When she had finished breakfast, she thanked the children.
'Thank you so much darlings for a lovely breakfast, but now I must get on with my chores!' Camilla said, smiling.

'No, you don't!' Hector laughed.
'Oh I do!' Camilla explained. 'The fire needs to be lit!'
'Done!' Said Hector.
'The next load of washing needs to be put in the tub,'
'Done!' Said Isabella.
'The living room floor needs sweeping!'
'Done!' Said Hector.
'But surely there must be some ironing for me to do?!' Said Camilla, sounding very surprised.
'No, we've done it,' Smiled Isabella.
'Izzy got us up early and organised everything for you,' Hector explained.
'That is lovely of you both!' Beamed Camilla. 'But what should I do instead?'
An hour later, having had a luxury bubble bath organised by Isabella, Camilla Hunter-Smyth was sitting comfortably in her favourite armchair on freshly plumper cushions reading a book in front of the roaring fire.

'What a delightful day!' Exclaimed Camilla.
'You deserve it!' The children smiled.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mums out there! (But I think it's only Mother's Day today in the UK?)

Ok, I am so sorry I haven't finished the Winter Story yet! I have just finished catching up on all the mock exams I missed when I was ill, and I start the real exams in less than 3 weeks, so I have been (and still am) revising like crazy ;) I will finish the story as soon as I can, I promise. I also have plenty of ideas for other stories that I have started to draft :)

I have actually started to put up pictures of my collection! I have written every figure I have, but it'll take me a while to finish photographing them :) I will also photograph my buildings soon, too!

Pictures - More pictures, I promise ;)

I am actually working on a new pattern for a tutorial so hopefully it will be up soon :)

Talking of pictures and tutorials, here is a dress I made whilst I was ill:

The lovely LadyLollipop from over at Lollipop's Sylvanians kindly sent me some Japanese patterns to keep myself busy with :) Thank you!

I should be back very soon with some new posts :)
