In the Garden

I found my old background and dollshouse grass, so I decided to take a few garden shots!

This balcony with a pagoda underneath is from the Grand Mansion and I can't believe I haven't used it in pictures before. I added some flower baskets and ivy too, as I didn't really like the original flower baskets that it came with.

I think I am really overdue to make a new background for pictures... this one is peeling awfully and I feel like all my blog pictures look the same with it!

I am having a slight goat obsession at the moment - the Nettlefield goats are so cute but I have discovered there is a new style of goats, the Brightfield goats!

So unbelievably cute...guess who is ordering them ASAP! Really haven't been a fan of the newer Epoch UK figures but these and the Cakebread poodles have actually stolen my heart!

Happy May Day!

It's been a long time (over 5 months!) since I've updated this blog, so firstly I'd like to apologise for that. Life has been very busy. Although I haven't been posting on here or the Sylvanian Families Forum, my collecting has continued and I have made several new additions to Little Chestnut. I will be posting pictures of those very soon (I really do promise this time :P ).

Also, my blog turned 2 years old! And reached 40,000 page views, so thank you very much everyone for your support and kind words :)

For now: Happy Mayday from Lily and all the Sylvanians in Little Chestnut :)

Traditionally in my village in England, girls and boys from the local school display a maypole dance every year on May 1st. It's a pretty big celebration, and most towns/villages have a fair.

Autumn in Little Chestnut

It was a mild but windy early Autumn day, and Mortimer Bramble the hedgehog was doing some last minute re-potting and pruning before Winter came.

Then suddenly, a gust of wind came. One minute Mortimer was watering his tulips, the next him and his lovely neat garden were covered in leaves!

"Oh no! The garden looks so untidy now!" Mortimer exclaimed. I better sweep it up, he thought to himself.

They must have all come from that tree from the Dappledawns' garden next door, Mortimer thought.

Soon, all the leaves were in a nice pile ready to be cleared up. Mortimer smiled with satisfaction.

Then, another gust of wind brought lots more leaves, and sent the leaves in Mortimer's nice, tidy pile all over the place!
"Oh for goodness sake!" Mortimer said, slightly crossly.

"What's wrong, dad?" Asked Maxwell. Maxwell and Abigail, Mortimer's children, had come to see what he was doing.
"I just swept all these leaves up and now the winds messed it all up again!" Mortimer explained.
"Oh dear!" Abigail said as they laughed.
"There's always going to be leaves in the garden in Autumn!" Maxwell said, and Abigail nodded.
"No matter how often you sweep them, they'll always come back. There's no point worrying about it," Abigail said, wisely.

Later on, as Mortimer and his wife Eleanor were getting into bed, Eleanor said "Darling, why are there so many leaves in your prickles?".
Mortimer sighed and started to explain, but Eleanor had already dropped off to sleep...
